Oh boy, have I been waiting for this one. Because I am cheap and easy that way.
Because my Wednesday nights are all about Criminal Minds. Yes, I loves me some procedurals and this one hits all my buttons in that it’s more about the mind than the gore. And have you seen the cast?
Starting with the head guy in charge, Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner. So, so broken inside. And what we (meaning those of us who dissect the show on a weekly basis) have decided is that Thomas Gibson was very pretty as a young man (ala Tales of the City and Dharma and Greg) but age has definitely brought out the best in him.
Shemar Moore, OTOH, is just flat out pretty. A, really-that-borders-on-massively-wrong, kind of pretty. With very expressive eyebrows.
Another who was broodingly handsome in his younger days, but has just gone right on into dashing with a hint of wicked, is Joe Mantegna. Seriously, no one does the knowing smirk quite as effectively as he does. I’ve loved the show since the beginning, but seriously, it jumped up several notches when he joined.
Which brings us to everyone’s favorite woobie, Matthew Gray Gubler. Yeah, this is where I sink like a stone, because he embodies my own quirky taste to a t- smart, funny, eccentric, artistic. And that’s just Gubler the person. As Spencer Reid, he brings genius with a healthy fear of succumbing to the genetic curse of schizophrenia to the mix, which makes for an irresistibly vulnerable character with a whole lot of backbone. A couple of weeks back, I was totally cheering when he volunteered to interview an unsub’s wife because he recognized he was completely unthreatening compared to all the rest of the alpha males on the team. Recognizing his own strength in what would appear to be a weakness. *melts* Y’all alpha lovers can keep ’em. I’ll take me a strong-minded beta any day. (With a rockin’ jawline.)
Okay, now Wednesdays are also about the new Law & Order: Los Angeles, not so much because I’m an L&O junkie, but because I absolutely adore Skeet Ulrich. He’s got that Christian Bale bad boy edge without quite so much of the inherent crazy. Just enough to make him a little dangerous. And also capable of bringing an unexpected sweetness that CB hasn’t really managed since the Little Women days. Because a little vulnerability is a sexy thing.
And just because as a cast, they’re pretty damned sexy:
(And boy, wouldn’t I love to grow up to look like Paget. IJS…)
And finally, because this picture made me smile. A lot. Our favorite sculpted god of chocolate thunder and his Oracle of All Knowing.
